Puppy of Montrose Contest Information

General Information of the Title:

  • Puppy of Montrose and the Puppy of Montrose Contest may be referred to as PoM.
  • Falcon and Scott Fuhr-Kenyon and FuKen Productions are the owners, and Kota Husky and Husky Haus Productions is the Producer and Director of the Puppy of Montrose Title and the Puppy of Montrose Contest.
  • The PoM Title is open to all permanent U.S. residents/citizens, who are twenty-one (21) years of age or older, and reside within Harris County, Texas or adjoining counties.
  • The PoM Contestants must agree that they do not have any prior or current charges of felonies that involve threats, harm, end-of-life, or any form of sex offenses.

General Responsibilities of the Titleholder:

As the Puppy of Montrose Titleholder, you will be responsible for the following:


  1. You agree to represent the LGBTQIA+ Community in a positive manner as Puppy of Montrose.
  2. You agree to be visible as much as possible by wearing the PoM patch during the year of the PoM reign.
  3. You agree that you will maintain regular contact with the title director and that you will keep them informed of your activities and your fundraising efforts.
  4. This title, which is camp in nature, is considered a community title and you agree to assist other community fundraisers and events as much as possible.

Requirements of the Titleholder:

As the Puppy of Montrose Titleholder, you will be required to complete the following:


  1. Produce a minimum of three (3) events that support PWA Holiday Charities. All three (3) events must be completed before the end of your reign as Puppy of Montrose. Events may be combined with other First Family of Montrose Titleholders provided the PoM raises a minimum of $250.00 at each event as part of their share. All marketing materials must be approved by the director at least 30 days in advance and must include the appropriate logos.
  2. The PoM Titleholder is expected to appear at all contests when naming of the new Mother, Daddy, Boy, Girl, They, and Puppy of Montrose. Any absence must to excused by the director and a letter from the PoM Titleholder must be forwarded to send their regrets for missing the contest.
  3. The PoM Titleholder is expected to assist and support all members of the First Family of Montrose to the best of their ability in their endeavors to support the community.
  4. The PoM Titleholder will work with the producer/director in the production of the Puppy of Montrose Contest at the satisfactory completion of their reign.
  5. You will not hold any other community titles during your reigning year as Puppy of Montrose without expressed approval of the director and owners.
  6. As a Titleholder, you will not do anything that would bring any type of disgrace to the First Family of Montrose, individual owners/producers/directors, FuKen Productions, Husky Haus Productions, or the Puppy of Montrose Title. This includes representing the title after you have completed your year as a current title holder.

JUDGING CATERGORIES:

You will be judged in three (3) different categories: Presentation, Puppy Play/Production, and Q&A. Each catergory is worth 100 points in scoring. Scoring is Olympic style judging where the highest and lowest scores are eliminated. In the event of a tie, the Pup Play/Production category will decide the final winner.

Presentation -

During presentation, contestants are called on stage individually. This is when the Emcees will introduce the contestant and read their responses from the application below. This is a great time for contestants to present themself to the judges and audience as we get to know the contestant. 

Puppy Play/Production -

 During Puppy Play/Production, contestants are called on stage individually. This is when the contestant will perform a production showcasing their entertainment and talent. Set up time is allowed upon request, limited to three (3) minutes. You will also be allowed up to three (3) minutes for breakdown/clean up. You may have individuals helping you with your production. PERFORMANCES ARE LIMITED TO SEVEN (7) MINUTES ONSTAGE. Five (5) points are deducted for each violation of timing restrictions. Thirty (30) points are deducted if the stage is not left in clean order after your performance. 

Questions and Answers (Q&A) -

During Questions and Answers (Q&A), contestants are called on stage individually. This is when the panel of judges will ask the contestant random questions consisting of both serious and funny questions. Contestants may ask for questions to be repeated once to understand the question fully before providing their answer.
